Hello, beautiful readers! And welcome to the perfect post to get you into those yummy autumn feels by finding the perfect cozy reads. So whether you like it or not autumn is here, and for me this means snuggling up in a wonderfully soft armchair with a cup of tea and reading books that take me right to those autumn feels we all love.
I know that for some of us, fall means just moving into darker and colder seasons in the least romantic and coziest way of the words. Me included, fall can be a tough period; back to routine, back to meeting people you don’t like, and back to feeling stuck in a loop. But this fall will be different. I am forcing it to be for all of us fall wanna-be lovers but actual haters to love this autumn whether you like it or not. And we are starting this journey off by finding the perfect cozy reads to get into those lovely autumn feels.
Fast Track
What type of cozy reads will you find in this post?
For me, fall is everything fairytale, magic, and friendship with a sprinkle of love, mystery, and spook, and with a sprinkle I mean a whole lot. Autumn is all about the mystical and magical.
This list of cozy reads will include whimsical adventures, romance, coming-of-age stories, and of course mysteries; because what would fall be without its glumeness? Some of the novels will even include all of the above. I hope to help you find those books that make you never want to stop reading. Some of these might not be classical fall reads but they are such cozy reads I could not not add them to the list.
Let the search for your perfect cozy reads begin!
Cozy Reads: Magical Adventures
#1 Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber
We are starting this list off with one of my absolute favorite books Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber. This book includes adventure, a search for true love, whimsical magic, and most importantly a villain that you won’t soon forget. I can promise you that this book will have you hooked and in those cozy autumn feels as soon as you open the book.
The book follows a girl named Evangeline with an admirable amount of hope and wants for love. This book had me in all the feels and it was so easy to get through. Follow it up with book two (The Balled Of Never After) which gets even better. A perfect fall read for you who are searching for that whimsical and magical read. Hope you enjoy it!
Continuation of series:
The Ballad Of Never After by Stephanie Garber
A Curse For True Love by Stephanie Garber
#2 Caraval by Stephanie Garber
Let’s move on, but not that far of a move because the next book on this list is another Stephanie Garber book, Caraval. This is a trilogy that actually takes place before Once Upon A Broken Heart so if you want to have the full experience you should definitely read this trilogy first though of course you do not have to, you know all that about freedom of choice.
This is another book with spellbinding magic and love. Add in the mystery and I could not stop reading Caraval. I felt as if I were a part of the magic happening in the book; is there anything else you could really ask for? I absolutely loved the characters, flaws, and all. For me, autumn is all about those wondrous fairytale stories, and here is one of those books. Have a magical reading!
Continuation of series:
Legendary by Stephanie Garber
Finale by Stephanie Garber
#3 Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
My next recommendation for fall is none other than Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. If you haven’t heard about this book or read it this is your sign. I absolutely adored this book and have reread it an embarrassing amount of times. This book is such an easy read and you will not be able to put it down. There are few things I want as much as getting a chance to read this book for the first time again.
I would say the book is like Divergent by Veronica Roth but with dragons. The book is about a girl who is forced to start a school where you are taught to become a dragon rider. I could not think of a better book to read this fall. Add the thrill and magic of fall and this book becomes a must-read. Have an adventurous read!
Continuation of series:
Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
#4 Crown of Feathers by Nicky Pau Preto
We now move on to another fantasy read named Crown of Feathers by Nicky Pau Preto. If you liked Fourth Wing for its rider and action I am sure you will love Crown of Feathers. This book is the first of a trilogy and isn’t that the dream? It is a very entertaining read where you will not get bored.
My first and only argument for reading this book is that it is about Phoenix riders. Let me write that again PHOENIX RIDERS. This book will absolutely satisfy this fall’s need for adventure and fantasy. And of course, the book includes a sprinkle of love in the sweetest way. Have the best read!
Continuation of series:
Heart of Flames by Nicky Pau Preto
Wings of Shadow by Nicky Pau Preto
#5 The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
My next recommendation for a cozy fall read this autumn is The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia; a story about love and betrayal and every scandal in between. I would say it’s like a historical telenovela but with magic. A perfect read for you looking for some drama in everyday life. The bits of gothic vibes, history, fantasy, and romance make it an amazing fall read.
The story follows a telekinetic young woman, a returning magician, and a poised socialite navigating love and society. I that doesn’t convince you just look at the beautiful cover. Happy reading!
Cozy Reads: Mysteries
#6 A Study In Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro
My next book on this list is A Study In Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro. When you think of murder mysteries who do you think of? Sherlock Holmes, obviously. And is there anything more mysterious than fall? So, the book follows Jamie Watson and Charlotte Holmes, the famous detective’s great-great-great-granddaughter, as they uncover the suspicious deaths of students from their Connecticut prep school Sherringford.
This is an exciting mystery novel that will definitely keep your attention. And of course, there is a bit of an enemies-to-lovers romance included. Good luck solving mysteries!
Continuation of series:
The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro
The Case for Jamie by Brittany Cavallaro
A Question of Holmes by Brittany Cavallaro
#7 Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
Our next contender is Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson which is a young adult mystery novel that follows the determined protagonist, Stevie Bell, as she unravels the secrets of the prestigious Ellingham Academy she just started while investigating decades-old murder.
This book involves murder, mystery, academia, and friendship, the total kit for a cozy book to get you into the autumn feels. Have a devious reading adventure!
Continuation of series:
The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson
The Hand on the Wall by Maureen Johnson
The Box in the Woods by Maureen Johnson
#8 Stalking Jack The Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
My next recommendation is Stalking Jack The Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco, another murder mystery with an enchanting slow-burn romance. This book made me fall in love with historical murder mysteries and when I say the romance is absolutely magical I mean it. Could also be because I am in love with the love interest.
The thrilling historical mystery story follows the determined and resourceful Audrey Rose Wadsworth as she investigates the gruesome murders of Jack the Ripper in Victorian-era London. If there is one book you take away from this list of cozy reads for autumn then it should be this book. It has everything and in the best way. Nothing says autumn with all its spookiness and mysticalness as much as this book. And lucky for us it is the first book in a 4 book series. Have the most mysterious read!
Continuation of series:
Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco
Escaping From Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco
Capturing the Devil by Kerri Maniscalco
Cozy Reads: Spooky Vibes
#9 House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland
Next on the list, we have House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland is about three mysterious and alluring sisters who return home a month after disappearing, their bodies altered and no memory of what happened, setting off a dark and supernatural mystery.
If there is any book that screams Halloween vibes on this list then it is this book. This fantasy horror has the perfect amount of spookiness and magic. House of Hollow is a well-written novel with complex characters and dark themes. The mystery, suspense, and psychological depth truly make the book hard to put down and give you that tingly feeling of spook and truly what is autumn without the spook. Have a great spooky reading!
#10 Babel: An Arcane History by R.F. Kuang
Another fall read is Babel: An Arcane History by R.F. Kuang. This book is an anticipated read for me. With its darker themes, dark academic aesthetic, and fantasy aspects I think it will be a perfect read to get into those darker autumn vibes. I have heard many great things about this book and how it truly makes you feel and has a lasting effect. Here’s me hoping I am strong enough to read it. I just know this will be perfect when fall takes on those glumness vibes. Have a giving reading!
Cozy Reads: Romance
#11 Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert
The next book on this list is Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute by Talia Hibbert. What is fall without love? This book will give you that romance high and giddy feeling, and what more can you ask for in a cozy read for this fall? This YA book will be an easy read to cozy up on the sofa and absolutely fly through. Have a lovely read!
#12 All Rhodes Lead To Here by Mariana Zapata
Up next we have All Rhodes Lead To Here by Mariana Zapata. This contemporary romance is such a cozy read. Truly it’s absolutely lovely. I have read All Rhodes Lead To Here many times and it never gets bad. Truthful to Mariana Zapata’s books this one is also a slow-burn where the love interest is heartbreakingly caring. Found family is also a trope I absolutely adore which is in this book. I am sure you will get those amazing autumn feels by reading this cozy book.
So, the book follows two complex characters through their journey of navigating love, personal growth, and second chances. The book even has the grumpy sunshine trope, can it get better? Lastly, this is one of my all-time favorites so you have to read it. Have the coziest read ever with this book!
Cozy Reads: Coming-of-age
#13 Lonely Castle in the Mirror by Mizuji Tsujumura
My following recommendation is called Lonely Castle in the Mirror by Mizuji Tsujumura. A slow read in the best way. It is truly beautiful and will captivate anyone reading it. And because of the autumn season, you easily embrace the novel’s themes of self-discovery, empathy, and friendship.
This cozy read will truly be a perfect way of escaping time and place. It’s a truly enchanting story about a couple of troubled teenagers escaping into a magical world. Hope you have a lovely read!
#14 Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt
The next book I am introducing is Orbiting Jupiter by Gary D. Schmidt. This book broke my heart and put the pieces back but in the wrong places. Orbiting Jupiter is for readers who are searching for a moving and thought-provoking book to curl up on your sofa and pore over.
In this YA book, we follow the enduring friendship between Jack and Josphe as they are trying to reunite Joseph with his daughter Jupiter. This is absolutely for you looking for a heartwarming story. Enjoy!
#15 The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Here comes my next recommendation for this fall: The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. It’s a modern classic. Trust me, it is worth the read! Good luck lovely readers!
